Attempted coup in Venezuela
Today, April 30, the self-declared interim president of Venezuela, Juan Guaidó, declared that the "third phase of Operation Freedom" had begun. What made this declaration highlight in the middle of the chaos in the country is the fact that he appears surrounded by military soldiers and the previous leader of the political opposition, Leopoldo López. Up to now the Venezuelan military had supported Maduro inconditionally, frustrating most of the attempts of the opposition to take his power by force, but now some parts of the military appear to support Guaidó. Additionally, the former leader of the opposition, Leopoldo López, who was under arrest until today, seems to have broken free, further proving that the military is no longer completely supporting Maduro.
