Brazil's Supreme Court makes homophobia a crime
Brazil's Supreme Court has voted to criminalise homophobia and transphobia in the same way as racism under the country's laws until the Congress creates a specific law for the subject. Brazil's laws banning racism were passed in 1989 and provide a jail sentence of up to five years. Notably, Brazil legalised same-sex marriages in 2013.
