The Tokyo 2020 Olympic medals will be made form recycled electronic devices, a first for the olympics. During a recycling campaign people handed in a total of 78,985 tons of electronic devices. Precious metals are then extracted and with these the 5,000 medals for the olympics and paralympics are going to be made. I think this is a very intelligent and innovative way of recycling, what do you think?
Why this year has been so dangerous for Mount Everest's climbers: Everest has always been extremely dangerous, but this climbing season has had 11 deaths so far, that are not related to one event as it usually is, but to several factors. Mountaineers have suggested difficult weather conditions, a lack of experience and the growing commercialization of expeditions are contributing to the danger. During the week beginning May 20, crowds of climbers became stuck in a queue (fila) to the summit (cima), above the mountain's highest camp at 8,000 meters. Most people can only spend a matter of minutes at the summit without extra oxygen supplies, and the area where mountaineers have been delayed is known to many as the "death zone."
