Last tuesday, Nicolas Gabilan a music student from Universidad de Chile coming from Hualpen won "Pasapalabra" and recieved the biggest prize ever given in a Chilean game show, 396 million chilean pesos. But he didn't manage to achieve this without effort, he was in the show forty episodes before winning. Nicolas stated that he wanted to buy an apartment in Concepcion with the prize and also travel around Chile.

The Amazon jungle has been burning for 18 days, with fires that have caused an ecological and public health tragedy, in the region that comprises much of the central and northern territory of South America. The situation has been declared as a 'state of environmental emergency' that can cause complications for the inhabitants of that territory, who could be affected by respiratory diseases. According to the National Space Research Institute (INPE) of Brazil, forest fires have increased 83 percent so far this year compared to the same period in 2018. The agency has registered 72,843 fires, the highest number since Records began in 2013.

The Amazon rainforest has been burning for the past 17 days at a record rate   . Earlier this month, Brazil declared a state of emergency over the rising number of fires in the region. A gunman opened fire with an assault-style rifle in a crowded Walmart on the city's east side.  In addition to the 22 fatalities, 24 people were injured in the shooting. Last Tuesday, a house in the city of Valparaiso in Chile collapsed and left at least 2 dead and the number raising everyday, along with several injured. Fireman are working along with authorities in order to remove the rubble and search for more injured or dead. The exact cause is unknown, but the number of people that were in the building at the moment of the collapse and the bad infrastructure of the city might be what caused the accident. The city, which is a UNESCO world heritage site, has suffered several catastrophes along the years, with a great number of fires in recent memory. This accidents are due to poor infrastructure and the lack of resources the city has to repair the old houses. "Panic and fear" when landing in Valencia a British plane with one of the engines on fire Tuesday, August 6, 2019 - 11:37 Nineteen people were slightly injured after a British Airways plane landed at Manises (Valencia) airport with fire on one of the engines, according to official government sources. Three of the minor injuries had to be taken to the hospital after being poisoned with the smoke from the fire but have already been discharged. what happened was very dangerous since the engine could have exploded and could have resulted in serious injuries.

The Tokyo 2020 Olympic medals will be made form recycled electronic devices, a first for the olympics. During a recycling campaign people handed in a total of 78,985 tons of electronic devices. Precious metals are then extracted and with these the 5,000 medals for the olympics and paralympics are going to be made.  I think this is a very intelligent and innovative way of recycling, what do you think?

A video recorded by an employee from the restaurant La Piccola Italia was published. In the video we can see the boss of the restaurant yelling at him and the other employees using bad words and being very agressive. The employee said on an interview that once he was punched by his boss and he had suffered abuse from him several times. There are no news about what happened after the release of the video but seems to be something important and clearly are no good conditions for a work environment

Russian opposition leader accuses Russian Government of poisoning him. Yesterday, Alexei Navalni, the leader of the Russian opposition presented a formal lawsuit against the Russian Government for poisoning and attempt of murder. According to his lawyer this actions occurred during his 30-day prison sentence for organizing illegal strikes, specifically during Sunday morning during an opposition strike in the streets of Moscow that left 70 injured and more than 1000 arrested. Because of this, his lawyer demanded a toxicology investigation for his client and all of the security tapes that could be helpful for the case. Personally, I believe that Alexei, was indeed poisoned because it's not the first time something like this happens during the last years in Russia and I think that is a shame that the Russian Government auto proclaim themselves as a democracy after events like poisoning, illegal arrests and use of excessive force.
